(OLNEY/NEWTON) The local and area cleanup continues after the heavy rains and storms that rolled through Southeastern and South Central Illinois. While most of the storm damage is still be accessed, some repair work is underway. With recent rainfall totals being reported from a low of three inches to a high of nearly twelve inches throughout our fifteen county region, some flood waters have started to recede. However, many rural roads are still closed due to flooding and/or the damage caused by the flood waters. All motorists should use caution while traveling country roads and take alternate routes if possible.
