Michael Arndt
Michael Arndt, Volkswagen brand’s sales head in Germany, has been named to succeed Ashutosh Dixit as president of Audi’s sales company at FAW-Volkswagen, VW Group’s joint venture with China FAW Group.
The appointment became effective on November 1, FAW-VW said this week.
An auto veteran with more than 20 years of industry experience, Arndt worked from 2008 to 2020 as head of strategy and planning at VW Group’s China headquarters and as a sales executive at the German auto giant’s partnership with SAIC Motor Corp.
Ashutosh Dixit has been assigned to a post at Audi’s headquarters in Germany.
In China, Audi mainly produces and markets cars and crossovers through FAW-VW, established in 1991 to produce vehicles for VW and Audi brands.
Audi models now assembled at FAW-VW include the A3, A4 and A6 sedans, the Q2, Q3 and Q5 crossovers as well as the e-tron full electric crossover.
In September 2021, the German luxury brand launched output at SAIC-VW, which previously only produced vehicles for VW and Skoda marques.
SAIC-VW builds and sells three Audi models – the elongated A7 sedan, the Q6 crossover and the Q5 E-tron electric crossover.
China has long been Audi’s largest single market globally.
The brand’s China’s sales, constrained by the semiconductor chip crunch and Beijing’s zero-COVID policy, slipped 12 percent to 496,235 vehicles in the first three quarters of the year.
