The Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance F1 Edition gets black and red highlights in and out while getting a powerful electrified inline-four engine.
Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance F1 Edition – this is the name of the all-new limited-run performance-oriented car from the house of Affalterbach. And as with all the limited-run cars from Mercedes-AMG in the past, this new monstrous version of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class gets a host of sporty visual add-ons and tweaks inside-out, thus making it a true collectors’ item. As the suffix in the name suggests, some visual add-ons and tweaks are inspired by the highlights of the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC+, used as the official medical and safety car of Formula 1.
Keeping all the exclusive visual bits aside, the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance F1 Edition is based on the electrified version of the C 63 S, one of the latest cars from the performance arm of Mercedes-Benz, which gets an electrified powertrain. And with what it is claiming on paper, this new car ensures that it is not inferior to the likes of V8s we have seen in the past from the brand. In short, this is a proper fast-looking car with bonkers performance – a true Mercedes-AMG offering. The carmaker is offering this exclusive version in both sedan and estate forms for one year from the day its sales commence.
All the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance F1 Edition cars destined to hit the production floors will come painted in an exclusive alpine grey paint scheme. This premium color of the F1 Edition version will also feature the AMG logo and color gradient from grey to black. This car also features matt black 20-inch AMG forged wheels and red trim lines on the bottom portions of the front and rear aprons, side door panels, and rim flanges. Further sportiness in the car comes with the AMG Aerodynamics Package, consisting of handling-enhancing elements like a larger front splitter and a spoiler lip on the boot lid, with the latter available only in the sedan version.
The Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance F1 Edition also has AMG Night Packages I and II on offer, which brings more treats to the car. These packages include a high gloss black finish for the trim elements in the front wings, outside rearview mirrors, window beltline garnish, and window surrounds. Adding a more sinister look to the car is the black chrome finish for the radiator grille louvers, trim strip in the rear apron, badges on the boot lid, and twin exhaust tailpipes of the AMG exhaust system. In addition, the AMG fuel filler cap in this exclusive edition is finished in silver chrome and is embossed with AMG lettering.
Like the exterior, the cabin of the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance F1 Edition also gets treated with a few AMG-specific elements and a good mix of black and red highlights everywhere. This limited-run car comes with AMG Performance seats wrapped in black Nappa leather while featuring AMG emblems on the headrests and contrast red stitching. Even the AMG performance steering wheel gets AMG badging and contrasts red stitching over the Nappa leather finish.
Other attraction-grabbing highlights of this car include red-colored seat belts, AMG carbon fiber elements with red touches, AMG door sill trims with illuminated AMG lettering, and AMG floor mats with red stitching and F1 logos. All the units of both sedan and estate versions of the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance F1 Edition will also come with a customized AMG indoor car cover with an F1 logo printed.
When the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance broke covers in September 2022, it broke many hearts for it chose a twin-turbo inline-four over a twin-turbo V8. An AMG offering based on C-Class with an inline-four was considered a disgrace by many, but all those people dropped their jaws when they saw the performance numbers.
With 680 hp of maximum power and 752 lb-ft of maximum torque, the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance became the most powerful iteration of the C-Class. These unreal power and torque figures for a four-cylinder engine have also been possible with the additional contribution of a 200 hp electric motor and a 6.1 kWh battery pack, both of which are mounted on the rear axle.
For the C 63 S E Performance F1 Edition, Mercedes-AMG has made no changes to the powertrain – it produces the same power and torque outputs and is mated to a 9-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. With these super-impressive numbers, the Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance F1 Edition can hit the 62 mph mark from a standstill in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 174 mph.
